don't do ebay they charge to sell. I do alot of advertise and I use all the free sites. why pay when you don't have to. classifieds are great too. they are free. have any question s send me an email
I sell things on ebay and have only had one problem buyer in over 5 years. Everywhere you can go to sell something you will always have that one in the crowd that is a jerk. I have founf that mostr people are honest. Always check thier feedback, if thier feedback is crappy then you can cancel thier bid and block them from buying. Read the reviews and guide section and you can get some decent advice and help when you need it.
I also have sold on eBay for years. We also use many of the other free sites, however, none of those sites remotely has the traffic that eBay brings! There are over 245 million registered users worldwide.
Although they have raised prices on many things over the years, you still couldn't run a bricks and mortar store that had that sort of traffic, say Fifth Ave in NYC for the same cost as it is to do business on eBay.
Some of the free sites include iOffer, Bidville, ePier, Craigslist, etc. If you do a search for free auction sites, you will find several. Many of them also though, don't have quite the ease of use as eBay. They are way ahead of the game in several aspects.
I've been making about $1,500.00 a week on eBay and it's mostly from items we pick up at estate sales, auctions and yard sales. So as you can see, you don't need alot of money to get into it.
You will only be as successful as YOU choose to be! You have to have a certain mindset that you are going to make this work and stick to it each and every day! And don't let the naysayers tell you otherwise! It can be done!
There is a website for those interested in online selling called OSI Rockstars. While selling online for the past few years, I have traversed the Internet several times in search of info on HTML, taxes and accounting, marketing, social networking, you get the idea. If it has anything to do with online selling, I've looked it up! This particular site though has everything, I kid you not, everything that you need to help you be successful in online retail sales!
