Star Wars d20 RPG

I have been part of a role playing gamers group for several years, and we had exclusively played D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) during that time. Earlier this year, we had one of our regular players move away, and that was when we decided to start playing something new. I did a little bit of research into other popular d20-based systems, and that's when I discovered the Star Wars RPG.

We played our first session last night and it went really well. What's cool is that if you already know the d20 system of rules, then you can pick up this game almost immediately. To play, the main book you need to get is the Revised Core Rulebook. This is what we have and it is basically the same thing as the Player's Handbook in D&D.

Wizards of the Coast (http://www.wizards.com) also just put out a brand new book called the Saga Edition of the Core Rulebook. I have not had a chance to check it out and see what the differences are, but I'm sure it's worth getting.

I'd be interested to hear what you think the system does to encourage play like that appearing in the movies? I'm specifically wondering about high-power drama with meaningful setbacks, etc. I fear that if it's just reworked D&D that the game will feel like D&D.

Pick up the newest version Star Wars Saga Edition. It's D20, but it's more streamlined and Epic then the previous versions. But if you want to get away from D20 pick up the oringal D6 Game from West End Games. A solid fun system that fits the setting.
