Well Med Surg.......it is a special kind of hell. Going to clinicals? Well you know I do love that. Boy have we seen some STUFF! (I will have a ending comment of appreciation...stay tuned)
Lecture.....*sigh*....lecture. Shorty and Barb and Sholana could tell ya..... Yo soy nerd. I love lecture. I love a class that takes a step beyond the powerpoint. I am told often to shut up. (I like to talk and discuss as well......I suck) We actually have a very talented teacher. Unfortunately she is not there enough. She has had some issues and has been absent due to circumstances beyond he control. But apparently......the contingency plan......what contingency plan? Not so good. 5 People are passing med surg. (Out of 20) I am passing today. Today. As soon as they post the grades from the last two tests. I am sure my status will change to not passing. I feel very sure that I did not do well on the last two tests. No one is sleeping. We find out the day before tests should happen what chapters shall be on the tests. One instructor says one thing will be on the test while another says something else will be on the test. Last night I found out 15 mins before that the ingumentary system would be on the test in addition to the Reproductive system minus the chapters on "Breasticles" and Some info about the "cootie coo" but not all. Crappity. (disclaimer: La B has her very "own" vocabulary -- please be understanding)
The information breakdown.....basically is a pain in the gluteus maximus. And I am suffering from Cerebral Varices. And I am preparing myself to have a Fluid Volume Deficit because I want to vomit.
HOWEVER there is a bright side....I suppose. With a steady diet of caffiene, caffiene, caffiene, work, school, forgetting to eat, remembering to eat - and choosing crap, and then working shifts on the floor for hours flipping and turning and running, and hopping and dodging poo....I have lost 5 lbs. wooooot!
hee. and obviously this "exercise regimen" is endorsed byt he physicians who like us to work for them. hee.
*****note of appreciation. We had some officers respond to a call by one of our patients. She was a few sandwiches shy of a picnic and this was not the first time they were responding to the calls made from her cell and room phone cell. They were so very professional and treated her with respect despite the situation. I have to give these guys a woot, woot. I know you hear a lot of bad stories in the media. Well let me say from my little outlet. There are some wonderful police guys (and gals) out there.

When I graduated from nursing school back in the dark ages ... (waaaaay before computers and internet!) they told us we would learn more in our six months of full time nursing than we did in the whole two to two and half years of school.
Those were the days when Nursing Schools were hospital based and you lived and breathed the hospital atmosphere every day all day and, if you lived in Residence, all night too! Meals were taken in the hospital cafeteria with all the Doctors and Nurses and support staff. We picked up stuff by osmosis. ( I kid you not!)
I also know that I am still learning new stuff all the time even mumble mumble years later.
that is where my newest Bellota-ism came into effect......Poo-tastic!
The nurses on the unit told me I have never seen someone so excited about poo. I don't think I am excited.....by now I am just immune. I needed a way to laugh it off. Gather ye favors while you may. Of course. Next term there will probably be no one to gather them from.
Poooo-tastic.
Eeeeeeew!
