Tips for Squidoo Lensmasters - Issue 6: Why Your Lens Introduction Module NEEDS An Image

Make it a habit to add a photo to the Introduction module.

If you don't have one if you make it into the top lenses for any category, or you're used in a Featured Lenses module, or you're displayed at a Group then people will see the default mystery squid icon.

It's not a good look.

So do yourself a favour and make sure there's something in there and it complements the content.

It'll give you a competitive advantage

The Introduction Module is used for the first paragraph that is displayed on the Explore page if you make it onto the rotating list that feeds it. It displays your image as well as the first sentence or two of your introduction paragraph.

If you don’t have the Introduction image, you’ll never be in the running for inclusion on this list. The same goes for becoming a successful nomination for the Lens Of The Day. This directive comes straight from the editor-in-chief of Squidoo HQ.

Where can I find such images?

Take them yourself. Then you won't have to worry about copyright infringement.

Make sure it's a JPEG file format.

When uploaded it will resize to 116 pixels wide. The height will resize too, but there is no maximum setting (it'll be in ratio to the 116 pixels).
