Voergaard Castle - the home of the peacocks

On my Danish castle tour Voergaard Castle, which was founded in1518, caught my attention.

The atmosphere surrounding the castle and the numerous peacocks that keep a watchful eye on the visitors really created a sense of medieval times.

 

 

 

 

 At this point I will let the photos speak for themselves and maybe your imagination will run wild, just like mine did, when I found this amazing place.

BEAUTIFUL photos, good work!

I have visited Orebro Castle and Gripsholm Castle in Sweden. It does feel like going back into the past. The sanitation left something to be desired......wouldn't really want to go back, actually.......

Great photo's . I have a facination with castles. The lines, angles, different woods and metals used in the structures. The roof lines and arcititure of them amaze me.

This is incredible, thinking that a piece of history such as this still not only stands, but is whole and "guarded" by peacocks - what beautiful photography!
We've visited one castle in our lives - the one here (I think it's still open?) called Gillette's Castle, but it's nothing like this! Amazing and you really did a wonderful job on this.

Beautiful pics! This is the first place I remember seeing peacocks when we lived overseas(I lived in Stavanger, Norway). I was convinced that the US did not have any peacocks until much later in life. Thanks for sharing!
