If you've had a chance to have a look around the Squidoo Stats 2.0 update you will notice a fantastic breakdown of stats that has never been available to lensmasters before.
I anticipated Stats 2.0 to give Squidoo Lensmaster's a sniper rifle. There is a feature though that's akin to getting a state of the art scope to attach to that sniper rifle.
If you go into any given lens stats you will see a tab for "Traffic". Click it to open up the "Lens Traffic" page.
There's plenty of useful information such as Referrers and Clickouts but lets discuss "Keywords".
It will show "keyword phrases". The Number column is for how many times those keywords have been referrered by a search engine.
Now all these keyword phrases are potential tags. And can EASILY be added by clicking on the + sign next to these keywords.
All you have to do is click it, and it's added.
If the keyword is already a tag then there will be no + next to it.
Don't go crazy. If there is a keyword showing up that is not appropriate then don't add it. Don't add EVERYTHING. Select the ones that will have the most impact. Don't forget you can only have 40 tags per lens.
To finish off you need to go to your lens, go into Edit Mode, and Publish. Your lens is updated!
To reiterate... you DON'T need to be in Edit Mode of that lens when you add tags from stats. Just be sure to remember to open up in Workshop and publish some time thereafter.
In fact, make sure you are NOT in Edit Mode. Otherwise the tags don't get added properly. If you're in Edit Mode and you + the keywords as tags they'll be lost.
I tested this out and publishing, viewing, back into Edit Mode and they were still not to be found.
Also be aware that this sort of data will only show up on lenses that have in fact had traffic. The older the lens the more the information too. So don't get too excited about using the feature on brand new lenses because there will be no search engine indexing, so no data, therefore no information.
Now you can be a more effective Lensmaster by also being a Stats Sniper.

The internet didn't explode so I figured I didn't do anything wrong.
I just found this article on gather but I saw your tip on Squidoo and it has been the single best piece of information that I have found. My traffic increased dramatically by using your technique and I make a habit of checking stats on lenses. I like to look at the 30 day data for keyword phrases, which gives me a smoother idea of what terms are popular.
