Information is based on the "breaking news" on NASCAR Now on ESPN today.
At 11:00 am Wednesday, June 13, 2007 Dale Earnhardt Jr is expected to announce that he will be joining Hendrick Motorsports in 2008. He will be replacing Kyle Busch. It is not known yet if he will drive the number 5 or 25 yet. If he drives the 25, Casey Mears will move to the 5 car. Sponsorship details are still to be worked out and will be announced at a later date.
Speculation is that Kyle Busch is in the running for the #8 at DEI. Of course, rumors have been flying that Greg Biffle will take that slot. Another rumor is that Kyle Busch may go to an expansion team at Ginn Racing. I guess we will just have to wait and see how things shake out now that Jr. has made his decision.
My Thoughts: Hendrick Motorsports may be a good fit for Jr. He wants to win races and right now they are the ones to beat. Put a good driver in a good car and who knows what he can accomplish. Just look at Casey Mears, he moved to Hendrick and finally got his elusive first win after several years in Ganassi leftovers. I can't wait to see what happens next
