I have never made it a secret that from the beginning that I have disliked Bush and his so-called administration. It was evident to me from the get-go that if we let them all get elected that it would be like opening the door to the hen house and inviting in the wolves. My apologies to wolves in general that I have compared them to the Bush administration scum.
From the first days they were in office I could see them set out with a manifesto that in some ways rivaled the Hitler regime. A friend of mine sent me a link to a very interesting story by Pete Yost about the latest sneakiness by the White House and how they think they are above the constitutional laws of this country. If you look at almost every aspect of running this country that the president and his staff should be doing, they have run each bit into the ground and milked it for all they could squeeze out of it. Take a look at his Scorecard Of Evil.
The environment: The first thing the Bush Admin wanted to do was make it OK for his cronies to start drilling in the previously off-limits Arctic.
Taking care of the survivors of Katrina: Do you see any massive effort to help the people of New Orleans, or anywhere else that was damaged by the hurricane?
Our food supply safety: We are in serious danger of being poisoned by imported food from other countries, and the FDA is completely worthless when it comes to protecting any of us.
Illegal aliens and drugs: We need to close our borders now and stop the uncontrolled influx of both the illegal aliens and the drugs they are probably bringing with them. Not to mention the gangs that have proliferated while we wage some stupid damn worthless war in Iraq.
It's the economy, stupid: Our country is so deeply in debt that it will be generations before it can be set to rights. It has set the course for our children to not have the educations and health care they should have, and for our country to be ever more vulnerable to being left behind. We are no longer a world power, in my opinion.
Politics vs. Healthcare vs. Religion: In order to garner votes in the upcoming election, the politicos have discarded the utter necessity for progressive scientific research to find cures for diseases in order to court the religious factions, because they know that big religious organizations equates to more money being poured into their campaign coffers.
Will it be the "Iran" war next? If you are not paying attention to what Iran is doing, I suggest you find a very deep cave in which to spend the rest of your days.
You can be sure that if the Republicans got G. W. in for two terms, they probably have another equally as underhanded plan for the next election. After all, they aren't going to kill the cash cow now when she is producing so well for them.
I could go on here, but you get the gist. Our country (and maybe some others too?) is rotting from within. God help us if there is ever a really immense natural disaster that affects a good portion of the country. You may think the government will take care of us "if anything happens", but I know I am on my own. Look at us now! We can NEVER rely on the government because they have been too busy ruining our country through greed and outright evil doing. Who are the real "evil doers", huh? Goodnight Sheeple!

I'm afraid that you've got this ass-backwards my friend. HE didn't pick any of these neo-fascists, THEY chose him. He is Pinocchio and they pull his strings. The same lousy no-good bastards that worked for Tricky Dick (Cheney and Rumsfeld).
This endless battle in the Middle East is just war profiteering on a scale never before accomplished.
As far as illegals and drugs are concerned, this is complete bullshit. The CIA has controlled the drug trade for decades and George Herbert Walker Bush is a 'druglord'.
He learned well the art of criminal enterprise from his piece-of-shit father, Prescott Bush, who made a fortune as Hitler's banker.
In a word, we are all FU**ED.
Notice some make an attempt to fuzz the matter, by reminding us that we don't much like politicians in general. This is pure partisan politics, since it is quite obvious that Republicans are the party that incubated and elevated this neaocon gang. I have no particular love of the Dem party, but what has been going on for the last six years is not "politics as usual", and attempts to broad-brush what has occurred are tantamount to complicity in this hellish assault on our republic.
Real live human beings did this, not some vague demon called politicians. Those are elected representatives . . . our only means of staving off the disaster we can see coming. While it is great fun to blame all politicians, it is highly unfair to the many who have resisted this band of thugs, and highly foolish to punish them along with those they tried to undermine.
Turning this into a "hate the government" fad, could not be more pleasing and helpful to Mr. Rove and the spin lords.
He surrounded himself, not with statesmen or altruistic advisers, but spin doctors and misinformation specialist epitomized by Karl Rove.
Joe Lieberman is only a Democrat when he wishes to be. When he lost the nomination in Connecticut, he did what he'd threatened to do - ran Independant and won.
My advice ? Leard to speak Mandarin, and leard to do speak it soon !
I think you should find fault with whomever is at fault. But is it rightious to condemn all for everything, when it is so utterly obvious that a relatively few human beings actually did this, and decieved us, as well as many politicians ?
The "climate" generated by and in the wake of 911 made it a plain and simple fact; Resist too loudly, and get replaced by a Republican. Ignoring that reality we all witnessed so clearly, is to play into the hands of the "reality spinners", who operate by turning everything into confusing fear and malice.
Interesting article!
"The two real political parties in America are the Winners and the Losers. The people don't acknowledge this. They claim membership in two imaginary parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, instead."
--Mr. Kurt Vonnegut Jr
Man, those were the days.
True as what he said may be in many ways, there is a new wolf in town.
I'd just love to go back to worrying about good old corrupt politics.
Although I thought your post was a little long winded, I feel you have very accurately covered many of the issues. I agree that you cannot blame any one person or group as to the shortcomings of the governing of this country. Thank You Webduck for your original post. I can see there are many differing opinions on the issues before us. I also feel that as long as it is still "WE THE PEOPLE" there still might be a chance of saving this great country. The only way to accomplish it will be to become more proactive in what is happening in the government. We can't just sit back and blame someone else if we are not involved in some way with the process. VOTE!!! But make sure it is an informed vote. Take the time to learn about the candidates. Hopefully they will at some point before they are elected, show their true colors.
Please think about what David here is saying;
"We can't just sit back and blame someone else if we are not involved in some way with the process. VOTE!!! But make sure it is an informed vote"
Yes, of course things are screwed up, but that is something we have done, as a general population, not something truly done to us. If you can see these troublesome aspects of our systems, it is you who have the potential to help correct, or at least preserve the possibility of correcting them. Washing our hands of the whole notion of governance by "we the people" is precisely what those who would prefer to set themselves up as rulers of the people delight in. That may very well be the "plan" of many in positions of power and "authority". And many who shout out how everyone in government is corrupt are contributing to their cause.
Representative democracy is a difficult business to keep on track. We cannot simply wish it were not so. But it IS our best hope, to avoid devolving into one of the endless other, more dehumanizing forms of government which have marched across the stage of history in bloody and barbaric pomp.
I believe this article is pointing at a "cabal" of sorts, which is attempting to take advantage of the sorry state we have allowed our systems to fall into, by sheer negligence on the part of average citizens, to rush backward to an authoritarian dictatorship. Such a threat is, of course, the inevitable consequence of our poor stewardship. To turn our backs on that specific threat, and do so on the grounds that democracy is a mess, is to surrender to something we will deeply regret not having thrown ourselves against with all we can spare in the way of peaceful resistance.
I really don't wish to spend what's left of my life in fear of what some authority makes of my words or associations. And I feel an obligation to those who will come after me, to give them some chance of getting it right.
We are.
I could go on and on but I won't. It doesn't do any good. I am angry and so disappointed in our government. It's no longer for the people and by the people, but for the corporate and rich, and by the politico's and to hell with us, we can starve and do without healthcare so long as they are fat and sassy--and in the seat of power, while we are helpless.
By the way, I think I'll cut and paste and send to whitehouse.gov--not that it will help.
Over the past year, lawyers for President Bush and Cheney have directed the
Secret Service to maintain the confidentiality of visitor entry and exit logs, declaring them to be presidential records, exempt from a law requiring their disclosure to whoever asks to see them.
This is what CRIMINALS do....
