It's been my experience that people find God when they're sitting in jail. And those same people lose him when they get out.

I think Wendy and Lera have "hit the nail on the head". The real proof of the pudding will come when she gets out, but I have my doubts. This girl is one piece of work!

Jail seems to be the place to find religion doesn't it. The real question is can this supposed new found faith survive on the outside. Maybe she'll learn a valuable lesson or maybe she'll go back to worshipping the god of money.

It's just so hard for me, as a parent, to think her parents didn't care enough for her to let her get this way. I hope she really did find God! Because, believe it or not, there are people out there who actually listen to her. Scary.....

It would sure be nice to think this is true... everyone has a purpose. Maybe she really is finally embarrassed by her own behavior, and not just by the situation she found herself in.

Some of these confessions stick some (probably most) do not.

I pray that maybe she has found God and will change for the better. I think her Grandfather who started the Hilton dynasty was a Christian; if that is what she is talking about. Only God knows our hearts and is the ultimate judge.

Of course we will be known by our fruit. Who knows; like Zacchaeus, another rich person in the Bible, she may truly have repented.

I think a lot of posts are harsh; and I bet a lot of the people posting these harsh responses would also ask someone that is a Christian who do they think they are to judge their moral choices. I would call that hypocrisy.

At least give the girl a chance to prove herself when she gets out. Maybe it was a wake-up call needed for an immature, spoiled girl. I am sure we will see.

I honestly agree with most of you that she probably will fail miserably when she is out and go back to what she is doing. But I am praying that we are all wrong; for her sake.

Paris Hilton is made of flesh and blood like we are and we are all sinners. Lets give her a chance to prove herself and then we can say what we will. I just dislike it when people are incarcerated and all of a sudden they've found God. He's never been lost so why didn't she find him before?

She is saying all this, yet again for publicity. If she does promote a charity upon her release, it will strictly be for her own image and not because helping people is in her heart.

Children as a rule learn to live up to other peoples' expectations for them. Paris is an emotional "child" She has a lot of growing up to do, and it probably would be good for her to actually have something to live up to besides "loser." I am as skeptical as anyone, but I'm also living proof that people can and do change. I'm going to hope that she realizes it's time to grow up now.

Accountability is something we ought to teach our children, because they don't learn it on their own. It's obviously something she never learned, and for that part of this story, we can not blame her. It's what she does with this lesson, here and now, that is important.

She is just trying to get out of her remaining sentence by playing the "reformed" card.
I also think it is hilarious that Giraldo and Al Sharpton have taken her as a cause: Discrimination against Celebrities! I would have to say that celebrities more often get a much lighter sentence for their crimes and this judge was being honorable for giving her the sentence that was due her. This was not a first time offense. She was sentenced for violation of parole. She was given a chance and chose to ignore the conditions.

Esther, i agree with you.Yes, we all have sinned and come short of God's glory, but the key is not to stay in sin. Why do people all of a sudden find God in prison or on their deathbeds? God isn't lost. We are and He's waiting to rescue us.Hopefully this girl will turn her life around and she's not talking just to be talking. Hopefully she will be the one to make a difference in her friends lives. If we look at the wider picture more and more of the future generation is being wiped out by violence and war. The older generations are living longer. Young people are living dangerously because they really don't know God. They are not afraid of anything. It's all fun and games. Life is real. It's not about fast cars, video games, cell phones, drinking and sex. It's about taking responsibilty for yourself and your actions. It's also about parents making sure the children you have birthed into this world know right from wrong and practice it.

Brenda, I agree with you. Parents are not raising children as they should. They crumble under the pressures of society. My kids aren't angels, but I got to say they still come to church with me. They get Gods word every Sunday and I think that has kept them on the straight and narrow. I know "Gods not lost", but people who "find God" are usually at their lowest point. It's like an alcholic who hits bottom before they get help. Like most people who "find God", when things get back to normal they go back to their norm. But, there are a few who later on come back to God. Those are the one's He has truely called for His Glory.
Your right Donald we will know one another by our fruits!
We should pray for her and her family. The burden isn't just on her but on us christians too!

I just laughed very loudly out loud, Gaelyn, thank you. I don't know. Yesterday suddenly we should all pay attention to Iraq (we should) and now it's ok that she doesn't have skin cream. (It probably is not ok. She probably has very delicate skin.)

Ack, she has only been there a few days. I am tired of the minute by minute reports by her, about her, and concerning her.

If she found God, great. If she learned anything, that is why she was sent there, good.

I'm skeptical, but if this is truly heartfelt then that would be a great thing. Someone with her amount of money and media attention could do an insane amount of good in this world. I hope she realizes that sooner rather than later... well ever actually!

Talk is cheap. Let's see if she follows up her talk with actions when she is released. And more importantly - if she keeps it up. Actions speak louder than words, so that's how we'll be able to determine whether she has truly changed or not. For her sake I hope she has.

Just what is Baba Walters doing interviewing Paris Hilton? Paris would have more time to contemplate the consequences of her actions if she was't being treated like a celebrity even behind bars.

I am dumbfounded at the negativity here. I am just as skeptical as any of you but I also know that as long as we are breathing, we have a chance to turn our lives around. Why do we have to "assume" that Paris is the one living person unable to change? I mean, she is an embarrassment to me on many levels (blond, woman, human being...) but there are far worse people out there, and we don't act this way about all of them. Some of our politicians, (you know, people who are in a position of power and in charge of making decisions for our country) are no better than she is... yet most of us are not this ugly toward them. And Paris is, to put it mildly, rich but still a nobody. I must say, that's a little mystifying. And pretty scary.

I seriously wonder how this question would be answered if pre-teen/teenager age kids were asked it. I think as an experiment I will ask my kids and their friends! Could be interesting or very discouraging....

Being a young person about Paris's age, I am sad that she gives girls a bad name. She comes across uneducated and unfeeling. She found God, well God saved me when I was 10, Dec 10th 1992 to be exact. I am not like those young people Brenda was talking about that are all about partying, drink, and sex. I care about myself in this world and can't wait for people to ask what is different about me. Most of my friends do, and I always say that I heart Jesus. IF she [Paris] did find God (well God let her), I really do hope the best for her. I know the struggles of living right in a world that is sometimes so wrong. I can't judge but we will see what happens when she gets out.

I hear Paris's emotional out burst was caused from the withdrawl of her perscribed drugs for her ADD,while in jail. My son has had ADD for 18 years and has never taken prescribed drugs for them but he has never been to jail or been a naughty person like Paris either. He has two jobs and does not drink alchol or take drugs for fun.is a kind and considerate person thanks to the caring up bringing he has recieved.

A. I am happier than I have ever been to be only a voice in a multitude. My opinion does not matter on Paris' relationship with God, prison or facial creams.

B. Everyone has a spirit that opperates within their context, when that context changes so must the person's funtioning. No matter where they start or where they end up, change is change.

Reasons The Hilton conversion gives me pause:
1. She admits to playing dumb. This can be a difficult admission for someone who must then live up to the expectations held for a reconstructed dunce.

2.She sits in PRISON and claims that God has set her free. This is a contradiction (insight?) echoed in many conversion experiences, one that she follows up by saying she's less concerned with appearances, consistent with someone who claims freedom in bondage.

3.She has a carefully built image. It may at first look haphazard but I suspect method to the madness. We've had heiresses before, even spoiled narcissistic ones who make the party circuit. But to my knowledge she is the first to build a virtual empire out of going to parties and being ditzy. I mean, she's famous for being a celebrity and maintains her celebrity on the weight of her fame. That is a, perhaps not delicate, but at least impressive feat of cynical post modern media calibration. I suspect she has had an engineering role in most of the events of her life and will not play so dramatic a card as spirituality without thoughts on how to turn it to her advantage. Even if it's just to make charity fundraising the next jet-set Hollywood social craze. Sincere or not, I would not consider it inconsequential.

What charity to you think she will pick?
