Me, too, Sheila. These places are mesmerizing. After this snapshot a seal thrust his head through the kelp and rose and fell with everything else in the cove. Thank you.

Visions of the lagoon at the southern end of Piha beach, on Auckland's West Coast. Only there, about fifty metres out to sea, is a table-topped bed of rock at mid-tide level, so every breath of the sea is accompanied by a deep thunder-rumble as the swell crosses over it on the way to the cliffs.

Gidday again Jim. On average, around 3 metres, though we're talking surf beaches on the Tasman sea, so can get up to 4 metres plus swells, depending on the day. Always exciting.

The lagoon I speak of is located in a narrow funneling cleft between cliffs, behind a shelf of rocks, and is fed by the sea for an hour or so either side of high tide. Your kelp waves like a giant's curtains on that shelf of rocks.

The coast has a life force, David, that never fails to inspire me. I'm not always here to fill my senses with it, but it is always with me. I'm thankful that morsels of its beauty seeps through some meager verse to reach others. And very grateful that you would let me know. Thank you.
