Right now I have a dial-up modem connection to the internet.
I am considering getting rid of the dialup and paying the charge to get connected through the phone company or cable company.
My computer is SUPER slow and it takes forever to do anything online.
I have questions for you?
1. DO YOU HAVE DIALUP MODEM OR PHONE/CABLE CONNECTION?
2. IF I GET INTERNET CONNECTION THROUGH THE PHONE COMPANY OR CABLE COMPANY, WILL IT BE FASTER?
3. WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

just so ya'll know.
However, before you decide to sink some good dollars into cable connection, you might want to see about upgrading your RAM and do a health check up on your pc. Dump out all that junk out of temp folders & stuff. Surfing the net will gunk up your computer & make it slower. And also run an anti-adware/anti-spyware program on a regular basis. (try Ad-aware, it is free).
I am fine with it.
Eventually I'll speed up. For now, it's fine.
I get on line at work also - usually faster, but not always.
Dial up is just too slow. It was driving me crazy.
Cable was well worth the extra cost and I got in on a combo services deal.
Even with a 56k modem it will be much faster for you.
I'd go with cable. I have dsl at work and like cable much better.
2. IF I GET INTERNET CONNECTION THROUGH THE PHONE COMPANY OR CABLE COMPANY, WILL IT BE FASTER? - In general, yes, but it also depends on your computer. If you have a slow old computer, a faster connection isn't going to help you much.
3. WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION? ANY SUGGESTIONS? - Call (or e-mail) your phone or cable company and find out what the deals are. Then ask what the optimum requirements for a home system are - they should be able to tell you if your computer is fast enough to handle the faster connection.
I am going to check out the cable company that we have this week.
I try to list on Ebay but it takes me like 12 hours online to list just like 15 things all day. I need to make money at my Ebay sales and I just cannot stand the slowness of my dialup anymore.
A third option (fiber optics) may be on the horizon, but I am not sure if it will be offter as an alternative to or replacement for DSL those areas where the phone company is laying the new lines. One reason for suspecting it may be a replacement is because we currently have DSL and the phone company has already marked our telephone pole for installation of a fiber optics line.
Thank you for posting this in my group! For those of us who work at home 2 hours or 42 hours/week we appreciate this!
