HOLLYWOOD -- After ten years, seven seasons, and more awards than you can shake a gun at -- it has all come down to this. HBO's "The Sopranos," beloved by critics and a legion of devoted fans, is coming to a close with its series finale. The groundbreaking series that showed the human side of organized crime has not only become a pop culture institution, it arguably changed the face of television, as we know it. The intricate serialized plots, fascinating characters, coarse language and graphic violence opened the door for cable shows to flourish in the modern media landscape, offering big-screen thrills on the small screen. And Sunday night, it will all be over.

of humans (and their worst behavior.)
I began to feel as if I knew them personally.
That said, they will be missed.
Maybe a case of great minds think alike, though, given this is television, maybe "great" is the wrong adjective.
I so disagree, John. TV is capable of giving us greatness. Witness The Wire. (Yet to win an Emmy but it is great -- I think.) Ok, witness Helen Mirren & Jeremy Irons in Elizabeth I.
Anyway, it's not TV. It's HBO.
I was thinking about picking up showtime instead. You know they air This American life...
P.S Angela W., I didn't like OZ it was to violent and a bit gross with all of the sexual activity.
I do know 'John From Cincinnati' put me to sleep half-way through. I won't waste more time on it. But Big Love returns tomorrow night, and that was excellent. And a brand new season of Entourage returns next week. And The Wire wil be back for one last season this fall. So I'm not giving up my HBO.
