I received this e-mail alert this morning. I was out and about in the heat yesterday and I drank plenty of water, but still ended up feeling a bit dizzy and sick. Just think......It is only mid-June! How's the weather in your neighborhood?
"The National Weather Service In New Orleans Has Issued A Heat
Advisory Which Is In Effect Until 7 am CST Sunday.
Heat Index Readings This Afternoon Are Expected To Top Out In The
100 To 105 Range Across The Advisory Area. This Will Be A
Combination Of High Relative Humidities And Compressional Heating
Of The Lower Atmosphere In Advance Of A Slow Moving Cold Front
With Air Temperatures In The Mid 90s. Temperatures And Humidity
Levels Will Be Slow To Fall Overnight Hovering In The Lower 80s
To Upper 70s For Much Of The Night Before Dropping A Few Degrees
Just Before Daybreak.
A Heat Advisory Means That A Period Of Hot Temperatures Is
Expected. The Combination Of Hot Temperatures And High Humidity
Will Combine To Create A Situation In Which Heat Illnesses Are
Possible. Drink Plenty Of Fluids Stay In An Air, Conditioned
Room Stay Out Of The Sun And Check Up On Relatives And
Neighbors."

Penny, I hope you and yours have a place to evacuate to........that is what is known as a "catastrophic failure." You have my sympathy.
It certainly seems its turning out that way. However, as much as I do not like the combination of high heat and humidity, I'll happily exchange them for NO HURRICANES! Unfortunately, these conditions actually make any tropical systems more organized and stronger.
