What is Life?

I was asked this the other day by an inquistive 6 year old and I have been searching for a definitive answer ever since. Here is what I collected so far.

Life is .......

reflections on a dream
prelude
too long
a series of unrelated events strung together by time
precious moments
a race
a dance
a biological accident
highly unlikely
ordained by a higher power

Someone was watching Forrest Gump and he heard "life is like a box of chocolates" and he was off to the races, asking everybody what's life?

I am sure it doesn't take that much for any child to come up with a question. My daughter was liable to ask me anything out of nowhere when she was little. She asked me why God made a dog like a dog before. I still haven't found the answer for that one.

It's true children can come up with perplexing questions and it doesn't help that my family is a glib group my nature as evidenced by the list we came up with.
