GOOD MORNING, GATHER! (June 9, 2007)

Welcome, everyone!  It’s good to see you all on this beautiful summer morning.  What do you have planned for today, and (in addition) tomorrow?

 

As was the case beginning last weekend, our first “Good Morning, Gather” article of the day on Saturdays and Sundays will appear at 8 a.m. Eastern Time (hopefully!).  During the week, the first session will continue to begin at 7 a.m. Eastern Time.

 

Does everybody have their coffee and/or breakfast yet?

 

Are you all sad or happy about Paris Hilton?  If by odd chance anything else is newsworthy, what is the big story in your local newspaper? 

 

It is going to be in the high-80s here in Boise, the capitol of Idaho and located in the southwestern part of the state.  It got downright cold midweek, about three days ago.

Well, at least we didn't have to do the old bucket brigade on the gardens. LOL!!! The weather man said we will not get rain for approximately 15 days now. But who knows.

I would love to just go for a ride to the mountains here, but with the cost of gas, we just can't do it. I will probably work out in the yard. I love doing that.

Working outside is good for the mind and the body, J F. I can't do a lot at a time, especially if it is very hot. It is enjoyable though and satifying when you have accomplished something.

Good morning all! It's a beautiful morning here in Minneapolis. We are going to go to my mother's house today so my son can mow her lawn. Later tonight my sister and I are taking my daughter out for her birthday dinner. I'm recovering from a bout with mono and today is the first day in a long time that I haven't been exhausted after waking!

Thanks JF. I didn't know you can actually get mono more than once. This is the 3rd time I've had it so I kind of know how to work my way through it and what to expect! William, my son is 14 and my daughter is turning 13!

Your son sounds like a responsible teenager. Alot of the kids around here would never think of mowing lawns or anything like that. The parents spoil them that they don't have to do that kind of stuff. I think that is a bad example for them.

J.F. I agree about most kids. However, as a single parent my kids understand that I don't have extra money laying around. I have tried to instill in them that hard work pays off.

William - yes they are at an interesting stage. It seems like my daughter has been a "teenager" for several years now. J.F. I don't know if you get mono more than once or have flair ups - all I know is being tired all the time is irritating! On days when it's manageable, I try to appreciate it to the fullest!

Hi Cindi, I'm feeling pretty good but still sleepy. It was down in the low 50s here last night so a good sleeping night once I was able to get to sleep. I worked outside yesterday and was really tired but couldn't turn my thoughts off to get to sleep. How are you doing?

Grocery shopping is never fun especially at the cash register. I don't ever go on week-ends any more. That is what is nice about retirement, you can go at low peak times.

Flit we once have a cat named Tinkerbell. She got run over and I asked my husband to take her remains away so the kids wouldn't feel so bad. He just took her down the road and threw her in the ditch. The kids walked down that road and my son saw her and was furious. He said,"Tinkerbell didn't go to heaven....she's in the ditch."
