With all the balls we juggle in life: career, family, home, it is easy to become overwhelmed with stress. In fact, according to Mental Health America, one in four Americans describe themselves as “super stressed”. While it is almost impossible to eliminate stress from our lives, there are certainly things we can do to learn to manage it.
Here are some easy natural stress reducers:
1. Catch up on your zzzzs.
According to a National Consumers League Survey, about 60 percent of people who are stressed say they don’t get enough sleep. Try instituting a calming bedtime routine including a soothing shower with lavender body wash. Be sure to turn off the television to truly relax.
2. Reduce workplace stress.
If your job is making you crazy you are not alone, workplace stress is a top source of stress in adults over 18. Find ways to unwind at work, such as decorating your workspace with calming items such as family pictures, plants, a beta fish, etc. Lighten your workload by talking to your boss, delegate tasks, or start looking for a new job.
3. Take a vacation.
You don’t need to plan a two week expedition, a vacation can be as simple as a quick weekend trip, or a special event close to home. The only requirement is that you spend an extended period of time not thinking about all those things that are stressing you out.
4. Color Your World.
Scientists have determined that color can affect our mood. Choose clothing and home décor items in colors that promote pleasant feelings. Green and blue have a calming effect, while orange or yellow can boost your energy level.

7. Just Say “No.”
We often bring about more stress in our life because of our inability to say, “no”. You can not do everything, and you should not feel guilty when you have to pass on certain activities or additional obligations.
8. Watch your Diet.
Make sure to eat a well-balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and protein. Reduce your fat and sugar intake. Be sure to avoid excessive amounts of caffeine which can actually increase anxiety.
