Public Service Announcement--Use a Cutting Board!

I made a rather foolish mistake this morning, and now I am typing with one hand as a result of it.

Early in the morning, before caffeine or contact lenses, I decided to try and cut a block of soap into a useable chunk--in the palm of my hand, instead of on a cutting board. Needless to say, I underestimated everything and ended up slicing my hand open.

Luckily I'm relatively uninjured, but it did result in a trip to the doctor's office and a new tetanus shot, not to mention a lot of embarrassment.

So, hopefully others can learn from my moment of idiocy--use a cutting board!

Ouch!!! Well that makes two of us that got tetanus shots within the last couple of days.....!

Hope your hand heals quickly Lisa....we all have done stupid things like that...

Ouch! That's almost like the time I didn't pay attention in my Dad's shop as a kid and grabbed a chisel to pry open a can of paint (instead of a screwdriver). Needless to say, the chisel slipped and I got a nasty cut on my wrist and lower arm.

Luckily there doesn't seem to be major damage...and since I'm right-handed, its lucky also that it was on my left hand.

It didn't require stitches, just some kind of tape strips for the deepest part of the cut.

Don't feel too bad Lisa! I was ironing some fabric the other day and had my scissors out so i could cut off some of that raggedy edge that gets all tangled together making it impossible to lay flat, and cut my finger open. With the scissors! Now just how graceful was that I ask? Very!! LOL
