Hey, you gotta get out there and check every day, that way you find em and kill em when they are half that size and the tomato plants are not so messed up!
I had those before as well. They are quite the scary looking thing, that are harmless except to the tomato, they can certainly devour them. But there is a wonderful spray that works, even on herbs, so as not to worry. Bought it at Home Depot. It's called Ortho Max says it kills 100+ and it can be used very shortly before harvesting as well.
