So the movie TMNT 3 has my kids up in arms about wanting to get a turtle as a pet. While I think they are just adorable, my best friend in high school had 2 and they were very smelly creatures. So the decision to get a turtle has come to a definite NO. However, in my research of turtles today, this was a newsworthy story I thought I would share.
The Kemp's ridley sea tutles were indanger of becoming extinct. Over the years, since 1996, the nesting grounds have become more protected which has brought the number of nests, from 17, up to 115 in Texas. This is mostly just a heart warming story about how people and environmentalists today are striving to save our natural habitats and species. Please join me in giving this little guys a little fin!
Have a wonderful day everyone.

And not getting a pet turtle was a smart decision... they actually can transmit some big time bacteria...
When I was little my grandparents lived with us for a few months, I think while they were house hunting. There was a pond on our property, and I would fill a huge tub with turtles that I captured every day, but the next morning they would all have "escaped". My poor grandfather was lugging this huge washtub of turtles back down to the pond every night and liberating them, only to have to repeat the process the next day LOL!
I agree, no pet turtles, no bugs, reptiles, or amphibians of any kind. Cats or dogs are fine. We already have 2 cats, that's enough for me, lol.

I have no idea what it was feeding on, but I am not going to be walking barefoot in the ditches. :)
What is the biggest turtle in the world and Great Britain?
Leatherback Turtles are two meters long and weigh 1600 to 1400 lbs. They are coloured black. They roam the cold waters and are found from Norway to Tasmania. They can be seen in British waters too.
Now THAT is a big turtle!
