I'm not consoled in the least that this happened in a state senate and not in Washington. I'd love to read the the reactions and thoughts of others on this embarrassing fiasco.

Rosa, it is such a commentary on the mentality of some within this country. Our Lawmakers acting like impulsive school kids on a recess play ground! We need Senate floor supervisor/peace keepers it seems.
I have usually found that when so-called professionals act so out of character (or perhaps in character ?), there is a hidden agenda near and dear to their hearts that drives them. This is above and beyond the priorities that our votes put them there to protect.
We certainly should demand a greater degree of accountability for their actions than we would expect from 5th graders.

This scenerio certainly did nothing to amend a fractured reputation. I am appalled. I am waiting to see what the state of Alabama does about the incident.
As an unofficial spokesperson for the great state of Alabama (Ha!) I am totally embarrassed once again. But that ol' boy insulted his momma! wtf, it's funny really, especially after Fob James imitated an ape on the state senate floor and then there was that lt. governor who peed in a jar to keep from leaving the floor so some off the wall issue wouldn't be voted on in his absence.
This kind of behavior is not unusual. These are just people, just like you and me. I was appalled to learn that our last school superintendent slapped a negotiator in the face during a negotiation, but no one else seemed to think it was out of the ordinary. In fact, one person told me they had seen far worse done during negotiations.....and these are the folks supervising our childrens' education!
Dee, Apparently, you are right that it is not unusual but I certainly can not consider it acceptable. The school superintendent that you mentioned would find me lobbying for his dismissal if he lived in my town. What kind of role model is he trying to be??

After viewing are re-viewing that video, I came back to rescind my previous statement. I now think I was being way to generous in that generalized comment.
Clearly, this is a case of two good ol' boys being jackasses.

I truly believe this same incident could have happened in any state of the union. That's what makes it so distressing.
