Class Reunions

I can't believe it!! It finally came in the mail. An invitation to my 30th High School Class Reunion!! Thirty Years!!! I don't know about you but this certainly doesn't boost my ego any.

I went to my ten year reunion because I thought it would be fun reminescing with old friends and listening to music of our era during the dance. Instead the people that attended were not people that I had hung out with and the music they played for a Class of 1977 dance was horrible. Anyone who graduated when I did knows how awesome the music was back then. Instead they chose some D.J. that played music that no one recognized and I don't know what the heck kind of music he was playing. In any event, I survived the three day event, not too excited about really anything that took place, I just felt like it had been very badly thought out.

My twenty class reunion I skipped altogether figuring it was going to be as sucky as the ten year of which I later heard it was. So, no great loss that I didn't go inspite of the fact that I would have loved to have seen some old friends.

And now, the thirty year class reunion is glaring at me in the face. I don't even know who the people are putting it together this time but I know if its not the same people who did it for the 10 and 20, its got to be better. So far, I haven't made my mind up about attending. Will have to think long and hard about it.

What about you? When was your last class reunion for high school? Did you attend? And if so, was it all you thought it would be?

I never went to any of the reunions, the people I wanted to see I was in touch with so no reason to go and see people I didn't want to see.

No Mike, I wasn't talking about disco music, I was talking about Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, etc., etc. and I might add along with being a rock and roller I too was a disco queen!

This year is the 38th year since I graduated high school. I've never gone to any of the reunions.

I believe my last reunion was about 4 years ago. If I am not mistaken, they hold them every 5 years. I have been to none of them. Mainly because I have not been able to afford them and partially because thinking about going takes me right back to the person I was then and that person never thought anyone really liked her.

Have fun at your reunion! If you decide to go, take lots of pictures and post them here with your story about going.

I've never gone, didn't want to see people who were horrible to me in school.
My dh went to his 5 and 10 and then never went again, they were awful, people hadn't changed.
I think that is sad.
I hope some of the people I went to high school with have matured, I know I've grown in lots of ways. It's just hard to think of those mean teenagers and want to go.
You decide what you want. Was high school a good experience? Are there people you hope you'll get to re-connect with again?
If you go, have fun.
If you don't, do it for reasons that make sense to you.

This year is 20 years since graduation for me. We usually get our reunion invites pretty early in the year, but not this year. I wonder if we are going to skip #20 and wait for #25.

Thank you Susan, Gaelyn, Jennifer, Faith and Barb on your comments. I don't know that I will go yet. I have changed alot from the party girl that I used to be but don't want to see some people and yet would love to see others. It isn't ever the same especially since my Dad was in the military back then and the majority of the people who went to my school were military dependents. The people that stayed in Killeen, are rather small minded and very clickish and have not matured at all. Will keep yall informed on whether I go or not...

I went to the 10, 20 and another one in there, maybe 25th. Those were OK. The 30th one was crappy. Got seated with a bunch of people that I didn't like in high school and most hadn't improved. Also the organizers decided to combine reunions with the other high school in our district, so there were a LOT of people I had never known. All of us had gone to the same high school our sophomore year and then the other high school opened. The socialites wanted to have everyone together. I skipped the last one. If I live that long, maybe I will go to the 50th.

Bradley, I know how you felt about the people that stayed in town, they never change. They just seem to be more phony and know nothing about nothing.

Don't think I want to be around a bunch of people that I never hung around with so I probably won't go to my 30th!! But, we'll see...

I haven't gone to any of my HS reunions and only one of my college ones. the one I DID go to from college was really sad. One of the guys I was close friends with looked so horrible and all the others I wished HAD come didn't and the ones I didn't like when I was in college were there....a waste of my time and money. I guess I would tell you to let your feelings be your guide and decide on the spur of the moment whether to go or not. Usually that is the best way to find out what to do....at least it is in MY opinion.
