Construction, Construction...UGH !

Everywhere I go is construction. I can't stand it and it is early in the season yet. What drives me more nuts than the idea of construction is that they choose to do every available street at once rather than doing one and leaving an alternative road to use. Wouldn't that make a heck of a lot more sense? Then, when they hold you up for not 10 minutes or even 15 minutes, but for 20 and more, it seems a little unreasonable. After all, where do they think people go to that they have that much time. A little planning on their parts might make things better. With gas prices the way they are, this is going to be a looooong summer of construction. Does anyone else get frustrated?

I get frustrated at construction that is not for road improvement, such as burying pipes. It usually means there is no "reward" at the end of construction like a new lane.

I remember going on a road trip that went through Kansas. It seemed like the entire state was under construction - nothing but orange signs and detours, no matter where we went.

To leave my particular subdivision, there are only two roads out, and they're doing construction on both of them. Argh! I feel your pain!

Of course we get frustrated, but we have to remember that there are months in the winter when it is not only impossible for crews to work on the roads because of the weather, but the same weather is wreaking havoc with the roads themselves. Good luck.

All the major roads of St. Louis are under construction... MoDOT is quite annoying.

Ya isn't it fun....you know what they do around here.....they do all the streets at once and you can't even find one way to go to avoid any of it, including the freeway! Eeekkkk!

Karen, I live in the orange barrel capital of the universe where road construction is endless, year round. Just about the time they finish widening a road, they close it again to lay drainage pipe etc. etc. etc.
