Huckabee and Brownback were all given an opportunity to further explain why they believe in creationism versus evolution. Huckabee tried to say that the issue shouldn’t matter for people voting for a president and “wasn’t there” so he doesn’t know how old the earth is, while Brownback said that reason and faith aren’t mutually exclusive. All I can say is, people who aren’t evangelical Christians are going to be distanced by anyone that denies the scientific process and values faith over logic and reason. We’ve already had one president who said god told him to invade Iraq. I don’t have a problem with a president who talks to god, but I have a problem with one who thinks that god talks back. In the general election, Huckabee and Brownback have just given millions of Americans reason to vote against them.
