I think he meant they shouldn't get nuclear weapons, not nuclear power. They keep using the word "unacceptable," but where did the United States get the authority to determine which nations should be allowed to make weapons? Aren't there a lot of other nations who have a stake in this?
But speaking of "Live Free or Die..."
Giuliani just said we need a tamper-proof National ID card, and there's just such a proposal in the works called Real ID that turns state drivers' licenses into national ID cards. This proposal passed the U.S. House and Senate tacked onto a huge Tsunami relief bill, but many states have found it objectionable. I'm proud to say New Hampshire took the lead a couple weeks ago in rejecting implementation of the federally mandated ID card -- legislation to that effect passed both houses and was signed by Gov. Lynch, despite federal lobbying efforts.
So Mayor Giuliani, what definition of "Live Free or Die" includes "Your Papers Please?"
As another aside, McCain just looks sick. I've pronounced his campaign dead on a number of occasions, but tonight I'm already sure he's a sinker. That little filibuster didn't help one bit -- do the other candidates get to stumble along through Wolf Blitzer's red lights?
Somebody needs a gong.
