Samhain Publishing, a once small electronic publisher, has just signed a deal with Kensington Books to have their very own Imprint entitled "Samhain". Kensington is famous for their Imprints Brava, Zebra, & Aphrodesia, and now they have one more to their name. :)
Every month, one to two books of Samhain's choosing will be placed into the "Samhain" Imprint line of Kensington. These few books will be available in both mass market and trade paperbacks, as well as in bookstores and drugstores nationwide, perhaps worldwide. Samhain Publishing is not selling their house, nor are they going out of business. They shall continue to publish books as they always have, however a select few will be set aside for the Kensington line.
This will benefit the entire company, not just those select authors chosen for the new line. These books will bring in a new readership and increase sales for every author at Samhain. It will help the publishing house to grow, and prove themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in the "book world."
Whoever said eBooks would go nowhere? Obviously someone in New York (Kensington) thinks pretty highly of Samhain's novels, or else they wouldn't have offered to create an entire Imprint just for these stories. How awesome is that, honestly?!? :P
I am currently published with Samhain Publishing, with three books out and three more waiting in the wings. I'm so very excited to be a part of this venture, and to see my publisher rise to be the iconic electronic publisher they are. Congratulations to Samhain, and to all my fellow authors, who've made this deal a reality.
Look for the new "Samhain" Imprint from Kensington in Sept./Oct. of 2008! We don't know which book will be going first, but oh, how exciting!! :D

Ellora's Cave is another previously exclusive epublisher also making waves in the print world (http://www.ellorascave.com), however, their books are steamy and hot hot. While Samhain does have some HOT books in their library, not every book is erotic, like mine for example. :P
So there is indeed hope for the little guys, and the secret I've learned from the publishing houses who've risen and fallen - grow slowly. Don't try to do it all fresh from the gate. You'll be building a house of cards. You want to lay your foundation and build on it. Becoming successful takes time, whether you're an author or a publishing house. :)

It's just that it's been kinda "overrun" with romance authors at the moment. :P
