One of things I love about Gather is landing on other people's strange and wonderful planets. Â
I tend to cruise through the boundless universe of articles here in no organized fashion. I would have made a lousy Captain Kirk...I'd always be stopping at random galaxies that 'looked interesting' or 'had a nice blue glow' and my crew would quickly become frustrated at my endless meandering when they wanted to just get on with it at Warp Five.
But sometimes you accidentally stray somewhere and find something wonderful. I recently discovered the work of a musician named Wil Maring who landed on Gather a few weeks ago and left a couple of articles, inviting us to stop by her YouTube or her myspace site. I checked them both out.Â
Verdict: Wow. There are four songs on her myspace, each quite different in feeling and instrumentation and all beautifully written and performed. Wil has a voice that has a similar sweetness of tone to some of my favorite singers such as Shawn Colvin, Alison Krauss and Emmy Lou Harris yet has an identity all its own.  Listen to "Make You Smile" on her myspace and you might wonder, as I did, how come I've never heard of her? Maybe that's about to change. Â
I love it when people wander over to Gather and drop off a little treasure map; a couple of posts that lead you to their world, their work and in some cases their enormous talent. Â

(BTW...the photo attached got my attention because it was apparently taken at the WSM Grand Old Opry...the Carnegie Hall of 'Americana', Bluegrass and Country. I may not know of her but somebody does!)Â
