My Mid-debate Interview with WMUR

First of all, let me just say that it's really difficult to say anything smart under the gun like that. And I probably failed.

I must be really annoyed with Sen. Clinton tonight, because when the interviewer asked me what independents brought to the table, I jumped out there with my "elite governing aristocracy" line and said I didn't think independents would be too keen on leaving posterity with a 22 year stretch of Bushes and Clintons.

I also said I wanted to hear questions on a more diverse set of issues, and brought up medical marijuana (which almost passed the NH house this year). I pointed out that Gov. Bill Richardson actively supported medical marijuana legislation in New Mexico this year and signed the bill -- gee will anybody ever ask him why?

My excuse for not giving a better interview -- uh, the debate was going on and I was trying to listen?!?!

Thanks for bringing up the medical marijuana issue. I have MS, but wasn't even thinking about medical marijuana as an issue for this debate.

My pleasure, Arlene... but apparently I didn't even give them a usable quote in the interview, which didn't make the news. Oh, well... I always go for the homerun.

I agree Matt. I was so sick of hearing what sounded like the same answers over and over again about Iraq. (I would love to have a debate that didn't touch on Iraq at all.) What about the Drug War? What about abuses under the Patriot Act? What about school choice? How about asking the Dems to name one big government program they would cut (just one, I'm not gonna be greedy).
