Sorry that this is posted a little late, was out of town for the weekend!! Plus, a little anticipation never hurt anyone!!
Many of you responded to May's challenge in honor of my son's fifth birthday!! Thank you so much for the great response. I've had a blast seeing all the wonderful pictures, from creative endeavors, to family shots to artistic. It's been so much fun for me, and very hard to pick just one winner.
This month's winner will receive a $10 gift certificate (can choose from Amazon, Target, Walmart, JcPenney, or Paypal)!!!
As for my son, he chose to go to the zoo and to a Pizza place called "Incredible Pizza" (which was a first for us, but he just loved it, lots of games, gocarts, etc. Like Chuckie Cheese but with more to do for the big kids "husband included"!) At the zoo, my daughter fell and busted her knee, and we thought we would spend the day at the emergency room getting stitches, but we did manage to do some homemade butterfly stitches and it held together nicely. Still healing and probably a heck of a scar, but less the trauma and dramatics of a hospital setting! So, he had a wonderful birthday!!
Now on to the winner. Before I post the winner, I'll tell a little of why I chose this picture. I had so many to chose from, and normally, I lean towards artistic and love the type of photos that see things from a new perspective. For this month though, I wanted to find the one that represented what birthdays mean to our family. We try to stay away from all the hype of present overload (although I will have one of those huge "kiddies everywhere" party when the boy gets into kindergarten next year, just because I let his sister have a few) and try to focus on what we are celebrating. We are celebrating the birth of someone we love dearly, someone who we couldn't imagine our lives without. We are giving thanks that he is present and in our lives and we always try to make it their "special" day. They chose the activity, they chose the location (okay, mom and dad have a little say in that), and we try to do it as a family! Therefore, the pic I chose was because it emphasized family....you can see the joy in it, you can almost feel the connection. It's a beautiful example of celebrating life.
So, the winning photo is:

Thank you Cindi for your wonderful submission and a special thanks for all the birthday well wishes and special photos dedicated to my son. Hope all of you had a great time and there will be more of these "prize" type contests to come. But for now, we have another great month of submissions to get in, and the theme for June is already chosen by Jessie and is "water"! Submissions are now open.
Everyone, let's give Cindi a big CONGRATULATIONS!!
