This is a continuation from Part 1, where we showed off the things we did not buy.
Before we discovered we had the Ecco Neighborhood sale on our route, we stopped in a couple sales in the Kenwood/Lowry Hill neighborhood. I really like this area because it has well-to-do people who did not flee to the suburbs. They do not expect to make money on their sales, and they are used to having customers who do not look like them. This is my kind of place to shop.
The first four items here were from Kenwood, and the rest came from the Ecco area.
Find of the week:

Two-gallon Redwing crock
price - $10
sold
both of the crocks we bought at this sale had some minor damage at the back of the base, but man, what a deal.
Other things we bought at yesterday's sales:

Three-gallon Redwing crock
price - $25
no sale (but came back and it was still there)
sold
I told myself we already have a three. Then I came to my senses.

17" X 34" marble work surface
price - $5
sold
It covers all of the formica to the left of our sink. Hurray!

Minolta digital camera
price - $20
sold
This version was from 2002, but it was still in the box. He told us he bought an extra battery for it, and from my experience the batteries run about $30. The camera retailed for $400. Now Janie has her own camera, and it works well for her because she can shoot with her left hand.

Wrist brace
price - $1
sold
Speaking of Janie's left hand, her right hand doesn't work so well, so we take care of her left. In other words, we buy every left-handed wrist brace we can find, provided they are new. This one was.

Parking meter
price - 25 cents
sold
I've had parking tickets. Parking tickets mess with my head.

Case of pop bottles
price - $5
sold
It only really had 6 good bottles: 4 Mountain Dews with the hillbilly; two 60s 7-ups. The rest are late 70s and early 80s Mountain Dews. The case is plastic and nothing to write to Gather about. The 6 good bottles will easily retail for about $30 as a group.

Old bottles
price - $2.50 for the three
sold
The tallest is a Caw's master ink, the middle is an interesting cosmetic bottle. The final one looked like it might have an interesting color. It didn't after all, but it will still sell for $1 or so. The other two, I'm figuring $15 for the ink, and $4 for the cosmetic.

Figurine
price - 50 cents
sold
We'll put it with our bird collection, but I'm not saying that's what it is. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd love to know whether this is whimsical or if there actually is a god or spirit figure out there that looks like this.

Scholarly work on kitsch
price - 50 cents
sold
I don't know if I'll get around to reading it, but the pictures are wonderfully annoying.
Would You Buy This or Not is a weekly feature on Gather. If you haven't, please also see Part 1.

Thank you Shannon. The slab is about 50 lbs. I love it. I too am guessing the figurine is African.
Sue, the figurine is just so weird, I just had to have it. I tend to decorate with whatever strikes my fancy, so our place is pretty much a jumble. Clutterphobes run! Run!
Lori, some of the older Mountain Dew bottles have different names on them ("Brewed by Sue", "Brewed by Zeke" or something like that). They are worth a lot. I just can't pass up a case of pop bottles for $5. No way.
Thom, it's hard not to find almost universal agreement on the crocks and camera, since they're being bought at around a nickel on the dollar for what they're worth. If we had small children, I would have passed on the figurine.
It sounds like you did real good this weekend!
I'm big into bottles, if it doesn't already show.
I would have bought the crocks, the camera and the slab.....what a great find for rolling out pastry!
Sonia, I would imagine Hawaii has some tremendous bottle digging, with the trade from around the world. Most of my digging was done in old Colorado gold camps, where the oldest thing was from the 1870s . . .
I'm sure there are some of the little ink bottles too. But she will probably hang on to them for awhile.
Don't worry about the damage to the crocks, it usually doesn't matter that much.
