This is your 5th pronunciation lesson. You may want to take a quick peek at the very short previous lessons from May 20th, 21st, 24th, 25th (remember those bowels?). I’ve been underlining the part of each word that needs to be stressed, as many times it’s different form a similar English word. For example, when we say COLOR in English, we stress the first part of the word. In Spanish, we say COLOR, stressing the last part. Just paying attention to this little detail (called ACENTO in Spanish) can make a difference in whether or not folks understand something you say in Spanish.
All these little lessons over the past couple of weeks include the underline thing, to help you pronounce better. If you keep this in mind, and concentrate on the five vowels, you can use the thousands of cognates (intro to those: May 18th to 24th) to communicate quite well in Spanish. La solución es muy simple: la pronunciación es importante para la comunicación. See? You understood all that. Now go say something cool. Muy cool.
Tomorrow, word order. If you enjoyed this lesson, I invite you to join the SPANISH group, where the Spanish Word of the Day is posted daily.
