Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the most honorable retirement gifts I have ever seen, or even heard of, in my entire life. This is a fifteen piece silver plate punchbowl set that was given to a military service man upon his retirement. I was told he was a General, but not what branch he served in, or any other details. We purchased this at a consignment auction, and the family was selling it after their stepfathers death. How sad, as this is truly a loving tribute to a man who served his country well.
I truly cannot begin to tell you the emotional attachment I had to this upon seeing it. Each cup was respectfully engraved with a different duty theater that the general served in during his illustrious career.
The cups are engraved with BOTH words and insignias, or crests. Like the one for the Armed Forces State College (A. F. S. C.) has the school crest featuring a book in between tree branches with leaves, and a torch with flame inside another image, and a laurel at the bottom written either in Latin, or so small I cannot read it. The actual words engraved on each cup is shown in my eBay auction, which I've provided the link below. I am selling it, but I wanted to share with you what a wonderful tribute this was. May God bless all of our military service personnel and veterans! Hopefully some day you too will be so honored by such a loving tribute. But for now, just accept my appreciation!
