I feel like a small country without proper defense! I keep receiving an alert telling me that my computer has been attacked by a Helken attack??? What??? No more information, no idea of whether or not I have fended off the attacker or what I can do.
I have been having numerous problems since my McAfee expired about a month ago. I purchased a replacement from Defense Pro, and all was well until about 2 weeks ago, when the pop-ups returned, (some of them very risque!), and other products such as SystemsDoctor, etc., have been bumping me off the internet, claiming that THEY could help me and that my protection was inadequate! Like I would subscribe to such tactics!
The other day, the only way I could get onto the internet was to "disable" my Firewall. Bad idea, I know, but it was the only thing I could do. Today, I could not even access the Firewall to disable it; instead I had to uninstall the Firewall. I feel sooooo naked!
Does anyone have any idea of what's going on, of what the heck a "helken" is??? I would appreciate any and all help! My computer is a 2003 Dell, with a Pentium 4 and Windows XP. Thanks!

helken popups seem to be related to spyware called EGroup Dialer ... and is particularly obnoxious... it's not one I've had the ~pleasure~ of dealing with on any of my customer's computers .... yet.... will look for specific solutions for you...but in the meantime, I would start by downloading, updating and running
AVG Free AntiVirus & AntiSpyware ....I've had much better luck with those 2 programs than with any others.
