Is There a "WRONG" way to GATHER?

o.k. that's no fair now I want to know what they said is the wrong way to gather. Perhaps if you are naked it is not polite to gather in mixed company. I don't know.

Since there really is no one to mentor you I feel we all discover Gather in are own way. Perhps in the beginning it was one way and now it is evolving. I am new so have try to pattern myself after what I see others doing. Not copy but use as a pattern. I guess if you don't like people's articles or games just don't click their site. Perhaps an older and wiser Gatherie can share their wisdome with us newbies.

as long as you're following the TOS (link in footer) you are NOT doing anything wrong - no matter what the more critical among us think

Well, sometimes I feel like a dork when a group denies your article. It is usually in error that I send it to a wrong group, but sometimes, I think the article fits, but the moderator doesn't. Oh well.

I would have no idea what the wrong way is, but please share it.

You will find that everyone has their own ideas and opinions of what Gather is supposed to be. To some members there is a wrong way to Gather but to the rest of us, we just go about our business. I say Gather how you choose to Gather and don't worry about those who are negative and feel the urge to complain about everything.

One way I think iswrong is to post an article too a group that discuss other than what you wrote about. To me as the site grows. It would be easier and more approriate to keep the articles to the subject matter of the group. If you post "I love my mom in the freebie group Others have to scan through the article expecting to find free things when they instead find just a love story to mom. It is very frustrating. To me one should publish subject matter only to groups that have an interest in the subject you are writing about.

I don't know how wrong it is, but the ones who post and just sit back waiting for others to comment on their article so they can gain points...and do nothing in return never reading or commenting on other's works. When we help each other, it means success for everyone. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours...rather than take, take, take and give nothing in return.

I try to post to the groups that the subject matter I am discussing pertains to. However, some times the monitor of that sight doesn't see it that way. I just keep posting and trying to get it put into the right groups. If a group turns down my post more than twice I delete them and move on. I only do this if I am sure that what I posted belongs in that group.

I agree with Rob too! I noticed quite alot of that happening during this triple points week.

As long as you follow the TOS, there is no wrong way to gather. I do think there are polite and respectful ways to gather that don't fall under the TOS...and sometimes people forget to show respect to others. I find that wrong...but, it isn't a "gather rule" exactly.

I am sure I am gathering all wrong! I don't bother about points, they mean nothing to me as I do not strive to earn any gift cards or stuff. I come here to enjoy...........read, and comment if I feel like it, and maybe occasionally write something. Nothing more, nothing less. But at least I am clothed!!!!

Wrong way to gather? NO. Um, and a HELL NO. There are certain activities that piss people off (games, spam, poor grammer, etc.) but to hell with the complainers.

I have to agree with Toni T.--- I spend more time reading, rating, and commenting then I do writing. I don't have time to sit down with a book or spend alot of time with friends so when I'm feeling lonely or need a pick me up, its Gather that I turn to. Besides, there's really nothing in the certificates I would use, if Home Depot was closer maybe?

I don't think there's a wrong way to Gather, aside from those defined in the terms and services. (Which means if you're going to Gather naked, put a flag on!)

No wrong way but some group owners are bent out of shape when people publish inappropriately to a moderated group. Most people do NOT read the group posting rules.Since I moderate groups, I just either accept or decline, according to how it fits or doesn't fit. i rarely have time to email someone.

Karen, the title you gave your article enticed me to read it. I felt so left out in the cold, when you did not mention, not even vaguely, the thing(s) the person who sent you the email thought was wrong. However, reading your article and the comments that are here was a very good use of my time.

I agree with Flit. All you need as your guideline for gathering here is Gather's TOS and your knowledge of how to deal with people.

Rob, you make a very good point, and you've taught me something I didn't know. I didn't that points were awarded to an article's author every time someone commented on it. For those who are constantly writing articles and just sitting back and collecting points, as you write, but make no attempt to comment on other people's articles, selfish is one word that comes to my mind. It is quite unfortunate these people cannot be run out of town. If you know who they are, you don't have to read their work or you could expose all of the crooks you encounter.

The gather experience is whatever each gatherer makes of it. However, if I were to site a wrong way, to gather, I would say that abusiveness is definitely taboo.

Not that I know of, as long as you don't get nasty. If your e-mailer was unkind or flaming you, I'd say that would be the wrong way to gather.

Bout the only the Gather wrong is to post to the wrong groups or send email spam. Otherwise, whatever floats your boat.

The only wrong way to Gather that I'm aware of, is to run around Gather trying to tell everyone else how it should be done, as if you owned the place! We have quite a few of those kinds of folks, the "Unofficial Self-Appointed Gather Police Squad."

Other than that, follow T.O.S. and live and let live!

I didn't know there was a wrong way to gather. what is the wrong way.

All I know is that this week while striving to earn triple points I learned that I need more connections then I already have. I didn't quite meet my goal, also check your messages sooner rather then later as I have found you might miss out on something important to you.

I would think a wrong way to gather would be to point out that someone else is doing something wrong. LOL I have liked everything u have posted Karen so don't think u are doing anything wrong so tell this person thank you but you don't need any advice in this area.
