This was in my local paper today. I can see banning camels. (Camel poop is awful!). The gambling...maybe somebody was running a little scam down at the beach. (shell game? ha!). But the kite flying? Why?

Kite flying ban might be due to someone getting bonked on the head by an unruly kite.

You own a kite flying camel, Susan? ;-P

I lived at the beach for 5 years, in the Winter it was paradise, in the summer it was a living hell. I can only say that they banned kites, because during the summer there is not enough room to fly kites without stepping on people or injuring someone.

Whether it's the locals or the tourists, many people who frequent that area have a very lax attitude towards respect for their surroundings. I work just about 10 miles out from the shoreline and I'm floored by the state they leave my store (and restrooms) in. If I could make a law for every crazy and inconsiderate thing that happened, I would do it, because chances are it'd happen again.
