Here's something that happened to my almost 3 year old son this past weekend. We were sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather. The kids were playing on the front porch. My dd (5) was on a little toy push car. She rolled back, right over ds' toes. He began to cry. Glancing toward him, I noticed blood on his right big toe. I scooped him up and took him inside to clean, slap a bandaid on and let him "tough it out." In cleaning and inspecting it, I noticed, that it was not just a little scrape. His toe nail was hanging on for dear life, lifted from its bed of ease. So, gently I cleaned had just put a bandaid on when my dd came hobbling inside with a cut on the bottom of her foot. What had happened? I don't really know, but that ended the evening of playing outside. I had two "cripples" who couldn't walk and I didn't want to wait and see what would happen next to my 15 month old! Bless their hearts, some things they just have to learn the hard way.
By the way, the cuts are healing fine. No infection and I believe he'll actually get to keep his toe nail. I was concerned it would fall completely off. I am still waiting to see if it will turn black though.
