As a science fiction fan and writer I hate to admit this, but last night I watched Star Wars all the way through for the very first time. "How could that be?" you ask. Thirty years ago, when I was incredibly young, Star Wars came out. It was a sensation. Everybody had to go see it. Unfortunately, I had some kind of minor bug--bronchitis I think--and missed out on the first rush. One of my friends finally drug me out to see it, but I was still drugged up from the bug. I got to the theatre, sat down, and promptly dozed off. I woke up several times during the movie, and actually thought I had seen most of it.
Star Wars stayed in the theatres for months, but since I had already been to it I didn't go back. Shortly before it finally left the theatres, I talked with one of my friends and realized I had missed at least half, and probably more of the movie. By that time all of my friends had seen it multiple times. I ddin't want to go alone, so I never went back. I saw the other three movies in the trilogy, and the prequel trilogy, but I never got around to watching the original.
Finally last night I got together with a group of friends and we all watched Star Wars.
I enjoyed it. In the last thirty years the graphics have gone from cutting-edge to I've-seen-better-on-weekly-TV, and the plot is pretty simple. At the same time, it was a good movie. I'm actually glad in a way that I waited so long to see all of it.

Glad you finally saw it. Now go watch Empire Strikes Back. It's the best of the series!
On a similar note... I have never seen any 007 movie. Maybe one day I will watch them.
