Remembering the Others
Rows of white crosses
on lush fields of green
with small waving flags
to decorate the scene
To remember our soldiers
and remember them well
for their blood paid the price
throughout history to tell
That our freedoms are kept
and liberty preserved
with lives freely given
by our soldiers who served.
But what of the others,
the ones left behind?
For they too paid a price
that we also should mind.
With only the memories
have they carried on
continuing life's journey
though their soldier is gone.
The wives and the sisters,
the teary-eyed mothers,
the sons and the daughters,
the fathers and brothers.
So remember our soldiers
for they've given their all,
then remember the others
that are still standing tall.
