Lindsay Lohan took her off-screen drama to a new level Saturday as the actress was hospitalized following what police say was a booze-fueled car wreck.
The 20-year-old was cited for driving under the influence but not immediately arrested so she could receive treatment for minor injuries, according to Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Mitch McCann.
At an afternoon press conference, McCann said he was not aware if Lohan had been discharged from Century City Hospital. Calls to the actress’ publicist were not immediately returned.
The charge is a misdemeanor, but McCann said Lohan, just three months out of rehab, could be facing a felony after officers recovered "additional contraband" from her convertible preliminarily identified as cocaine.
Lohan was reportedly returning from a night of club-hopping around 5:30 a.m. when lost control of her Mercedes SL 65 AMB convertible.
By the time police arrived on scene, the totaled car had been at a condo complex, McCann said.
Officers eventually tracked the actress down at Century City Hospital, where she was receiving treatment for injuries to her upper chest area. Lohan was apparently driven to the hospital by a friend.
Two passengers in the car were not hurt, police said, but Lohan's Mercedes wasn’t so lucky. McCann said the car "sustained major collision damage." It was towed from the scene at 6:30 and remains in impound.
Lohan is scheduled to appear at Beverly Hills courthouse on Aug. 24.
Developing story. More to come.
Maybe they can delay Paris' sentence so that they can share a "special" cell together to save money?
