It started out as a children's story. A tale of magic, adventure and family (or lost family, as the case may be).  But, now it's grown to something much larger. It's seems to have struck some chord on a global scale. What it is about these books? Why do we wait in lines to buy them, read them voraciously and discuss them online to no end? As for me, I'm an escapist. Hogwarts is somewhere I'd love to go and Jo takes me there. The characters live and breathe for me. When Snape and Umbridge punish Harry, I feel for him. When he's redeemed by his heroic actions, I cheer for him. When he loses yet another person in his life, I'm sad for him. (These books have also brought me closer to my teenage daughter... never a bad thing. http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976931829)Â
