Do you sit in front of the computer monitor, fingers hovered over your keyboard as you await the arrival of an idea?
Does inspiration strike you at work and you find yourself reaching for a pen and a scrap of paper?
Do you do it on a laptop while sipping a caffeinated beverage at Starbucks?
Have you ever been in the middle of a movie at the theater and a Gathered thought has struck you so you enter it into your mobile phone to save for later?
As for me my method of writing (Gather and elsewhere) is always being armed with my Palm m515. When I'm not in front of the computer (when the Palm is sitting in its cradle synced and charging) I could be anywhere in the house or out and about and my Palm goes with me. We’re ready to go. I'm not just waiting for inspiration to strike, I'm prepared for it. Because it'll always do it at the most inconvenient times. Actually, it does it ALL the time, inconvenient or not.
And if the situation warrants it i unfold my portable keyboard (it's folds out to full size!) and use my palm much like a laptop (with a smaller screen of course).
So that's how I do it.
Where are you when you Gather your thoughts? How do you initially commit your Gathered thoughts to 'paper'?

I like writing everything out in long hand before I sit down and type it out. I may change it a lot as I am typing, but the original idea starts with the traditional pen and paper.
This habit might have started because I am a life-long journal keeper, but who knows. I just like being able to see where I started even if the pages end up looking like a crazy road map with arrows, lines crossed out, etc.
I have several articles in word on my computer in different stages of completion that I come back to.
Sometimes it will just hit me, I have this huge question and immediately post it.
I also do something wierd,
I write my article on my myjournal page and then copy and paste it on gather.
It's the only way I can get the spacing I want to show up on gather. If i just copy it from word, gather re-arranges and gets rid of all my spaces.
There is probably an easier way but I haven't found it yet.
