Summer Television

I haven't watched network T.V. in a few months. I try to keep my T.V. off as much as possible. If its on, its tuned to Food Network, Discovery, HBO or a NetFlix DVD of some silly documentary is on. SO, I guess I really don't care too much about re-runs.

Sci Fi has some new shows. Eureka comes out with a new season in July. I love that show! Stargate and Stargate Atlantis also have a few new shows left.

I agree, all my favorites just had their season and series finalies.

Switch to TNT in the summers - they have "The Closer" starting its new season soon, and I forget the name of the new series they're having after... They run their season counter the other ones to take most of the summer programming over. :-)

I know, every season is ending on the things I like to watch. I wish things ran year round, but understand that it takes some down time to prepare next seasons shows. I wish they would stagger the season finales more and make it where there were new things going on all year long as well.

On the other side, I can see why they do their down time in the summer, alot of families and people are out doing more and spending less time indoors.

I'm glad the shows end for the summer. Then I don't feel guilty going for walks, etc.

I'm with you Karen. I don't know why the summer is such a throw-away period for the networks, especially given that for those without kids or who still work our schedules likely will change very little. I too would like to see some fresh and interesting shows over the summer months.

yeah...it seems like whenever they premiere a new show in the summer, it ends up being a really lame show.

It is kind of annoying that they rarely do new shows, but I guess they assume too many people who miss the shows when traveling in the summer and give up on trying to stay up with the shows, but with the technology of tivos and such it people who want to watch the shows probably not miss the shows.

I agree, sometimes in the summer, there is just nothing good on TV.

Yeah, I miss a couple in the summer

I would like to see something like old citcoms or comedy shows that we now have to have cable for. Net work t.v. is all I get so I don't watch much t.v. anymore-I can't even tell the difference in the shows anymore.

I usually watch the USA network in the summer. New seasons of 'The Dead Zone' and 'The 4400' will be starting soon. That and 'Big Brother' usually keep my summers pretty full. And 'America's Got Talent' will be starting again in June. My 7 year old likes that show so we watch it together.

But I actually don't like the shows that don't show reruns anymore. They put so many of the shows I like on at the same day & time I miss them. I cannot afford a TiVo so I miss the days of being able to watch one show as new episodes and the other in reruns.

And I am not a big fan of new shows anymore. The networks never give them a chance. After 3 to 9 episodes they are yanked off the air without warning. Why bother investing in a new show if they are going to cancel it at random?

I love So You Think you Can Dance - that started last night. And Stargate Atlantis is new and I adore that show.

I know what you mean. That is when I am glad I have cable. There are always other channels that I could watch. Not just the network. I also have video on demand which I use mostly for my son but I find some movies I have never seen or old movies that I love to watch on there.

Tv gets worse as the years go by, more channels and less to watch. Thanks goodness there are other things to do.
