I hadn't told anybody at Gather, but I had to have a biopsy on my tongue and lymph node on the left side to check for cancer. This was a few weeks ago and it turned it was cancer. I then had a cat scan and pet scan to make sure the cancer had not spread. About three weeks ago I had my first chemo treatment. I went for my three week follow up check up with my doctor today and my lymph node had shrunk by 80% and my tongue tumor shrunk 40% or more and looks better then ever. My doctor was astounded! My mom, dad and best friend were pretty happy too!!!
I still go for another chemo and then eight weeks of radiation, followed by surgery where they will implant or seed my tongue with radiation, a long process. So, I still have a bit of a long road ahead of me.
I lost my sister to cancer over two years ago, close to three now. She said she waited too long and I never forget that. I had a dream about her where she told me I had to go do this biopsy, etc. or I would die. I was a little scared at first I would be joining her soon. I was pretty sure I had cancer after doing research on the net. Thank God I didn't out it off too long. If you ever think there's a chance you may have cancer, don't wait to check it out.
