Holiday Weekend

Dear Gather Friends,

Please remember NOT to drink and drive this holiday weekend or anytime. My brother was killed by a drunk driver. I can tell you the heart in my heart. I can tell you how it affected my family. Not only is my brother gone but my best friend is gone. The accident could have been avoided with a simple phone call to someone sober. My parents could have their son, my siblings and I could have our brother, he could raise his child, he could be here to be with his friends through life. He could still be here with one phone call.

Don't Drink & Drive. Call someone who is sober. Call a taxi. Call the police department, they will get you home safe. Never ever get behind the wheel and drive drunk. You don't know what could happen or how many lives will be affected. THINK!!

I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I truly thank you for this PSA. I, too, had friends who were taken too early by the specter of drunk driving...

Most recently, it was my dear brother-in-law's best friend who died as a result of a driver under the influence:

Sara, my deepest sympathy on your loss and the loss to your family. This is a "good advice" piece that you've posted, hopefully it will touch someone and possibly change a life.

Just as we should remember our fallen heroes every day and not just on Memorial Day, this is another lesson we need to remember on a daily basis; especially party time and when there are more people on the road.

I am so sorry about your brother. I will not be drinking and driving this weekend or any day. It's a shame that people think that it is okay to do so.

I decided I should clarify (and give you extra points) my husband doesn't drink at all...and I rarely do, but on occasion have a margaita or other pretty drink (but never drive after).

Sorry to hear about your brother. I can only imagine how painful and frustrating that can be. We tend to stay away from any long driving trips on holiday weekends. There are too many drunks and idiots on the road.
