Every weekday my youngest grandson spends the day with me. His older siblings are in school all day so he tells everyone that he is in "Grammy's school." We work on writing the alphabet, learning numbers, writing his name, reading stories, etc.
Next week his sister is going on a field trip to the Children's Museum here in town. I thought it would be fun for my grandson and I to go on our own field trip so he wouldn't feel left out of the action. Today I asked him, "Would you like to go on a field trip too?" He excitedly replied, "Can we take one to your back yard?"
I can assure you that my back yard is nothing special. I have an old playhouse that I had gotten for his mother when she was about his age (four). There is also a second hand swing set. The back yard didn't seem too adventurous to me, but obviously to him it does. So today we had our outdoor adventure here and tomorrow we are going to the Museum downtown.
I sent a "permission slip" home with him tonight for his mom to sign just like his sister had to have done. He is going to bring a sack lunch and we will eat in Riverfront Park after our museum outing.
Then later in the day, he, his parents and siblings are leaving on another adventure - a big camping trip with their new tent and fishing poles.
We will have lots to talk about next week "in school."

Can't quite decide which of you is blessed more, you or your grandson. So I guess I'd have to end it on the note you must bless each other!
Thank you for the big smile your story has left with me!
I am looking forward to my first grandchild sometime soon.
Melinda, that's so cute that he wants to go to China!
That's great, terry.
