Some days I feel like a zookeeper. We have 2 cats, 2 dogs, and a chinchilla. And those are just the 4-legged animals in the house.
It sometimes gets exciting around here.... and sometimes just plain hilarious, like this evening.
After tucking in the three monkeys, (oh, I mean kids, lol) I turned out bedroom lights and walked into the hallway. I nearly fell over as the horrible smell hit me head on. UGHH!!! I knew immediately what it was, and so I went hunting for it, holding my nose the entire time.
Of our 2 dogs, one is really not ours. The chihuahua belongs to us. The huge pit bull/charpey (sp?) mix belongs to my brother in law who is staying with us. She is a little over a year old and house trained, but occasionally can't wait to be let out to do her doggy business. Tonight was one of those occasions. And she left a "lovely" smelling pile about 10 feet from the front door. How pleasant.
However, in spite of the odor and location, it took me a few minutes to actually find it. Why?? Well, because my very polite cat tried to cover up the evidence. Literally. You see, my cat cannot deal with uncovered evidence. He spends several minutes covering and inspecting his own to make sure it is properly covered, as well as the other cat's, because she doesn't do a good enough job for "His Perfectness". And so, when one of the dogs leaves a mess, well, the cat considers it his duty to cover up it up too.
When I finally found the source of the smell, I could do nothing but laugh. I was still laughing several minutes later when I returned to the house from the garage to tell my husband and brother in law to come and see what the cat did. My very creative and resourceful cat had to use several things to cover such a large pile.
He used a page from a newspaper flyer, a sock, and... a pen. Yes, a pen, lol.
Needless to say, we had a good laugh over our pets tonight. Thankfully, the mess was on my hardwood floor so it was easy to take care of. And Lysol works wonders on nasty smells, lol!

I got home, and the cat had knocked it off the refrigerator, and the dog had consumed more than half of it....
I cannot stop laughing...you have told me several other stories of the cat doing that...but this one just takes the cake-lol-well you have a very polite cat.
An that ones also annoying two, have you ever tried sleeping an then he comes an like walks all over you-OMGosh he must weigh like 80 pounds.
Well still ROFLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
what will the crazy pets do next?????...........
This cat is VERY intelligent and tons of fun too. And probably the cleanest cat I have ever seen!! He does something on pretty much a daily basis to make me laugh.
I wish I had thought to take a picture, Michelle, lol.... we were all laughing so hard it was hard to think of anything else though!
William, I am still laughing..... I can just see if we trained him to use the toilet -- he'd probably learn how to flush it too, lol!! Either that, or use the whole roll of toilet paper :)
Great story, thanks for sharing!
