Time to Dog Proof my House again !

I have been enjoying my dog Yanky. But I realize now that I have a big job on my hands. It is time to puppy proof my computer room again. When Misty was a puppy she chewed on anything and everything wood or plastic. I can't even count the number of spools of my thread she got in to and chewed up. And we still have marks on our furniture from where she chewed it. Yanky is one busy little fellow and I think he must be teething again; he is just 4 months old. He really loves to shred newspaper and tissue. I picked that stuff up and put it out of reach. Then he started in on a shopping bad that I had some things stored in. I think when he is not sleepy; he gets bored in a hurry and wants attention. Sometimes his toys don't do the trick and he wants me to play with him. We let him and Misty play together some. That can only last so long and then things get out of hand. Yanky likes to nip Misty and doesn't know when enough is enough. He doesn't realize that Misty just has to shake him a couple of times and she could break his neck. I hope the thought doesn't occur to Misty either. You can be sure that we would not let them play unsupervised. So far I think they are on their way to becoming pals.

That "unruly infant" stage happens in cats too, just not as "obviously".

One of mine has never outgrown her desire to chew on anything rubbery or elastic. (They're over 15 yrs old now!)

Hi Wendy! I love dogs but this is probably the reason why I've never had one of my own. My kittens were really destructive for about the first year though too.

Puppies, no matter what they do, you have to love them. I had my share. Glad all five are past that stage. I wish you the best!!!

Puppies, kittens, kids .. does it never end? Just kidding. I'm not much of a dog person but kittens and cats have their annoying destructive habits too.
