Marilyn, I think it's a great first attempt--and nothing more worthy than a first baby! I think the guy to ask for definitions of these things is Jim Ross--I know he's got a Tanka group with a definition for that, and I'm betting he can tell you cinquain and diammante too. :)
Okay, I looked it up: cinquain: a short poem consisting of five, usually unrhymed lines containing, respectively, two, four, six, eight, and two syllables. Nice try, Marilyn.
I'm glad someone looked it up... that means the syllables are off, but it captured something so wonderfully, Marilyn... No wonder I don't try too hard to follow form in poetry :-(
