On Audrey’s recent trip to Lawton Oklahoma, I, Flat Randy went along and I took my new flat friend Flat Logan. We did all sorts of things but it’s too much to tell about all at once. One of the things we did was to visit quite a bit on Fort Sill and I’d like to tell you about the Officers Candidate School Museum which is named after Pinky Durham, one of the graduates of this school who is a Medal of Honor recipient. There is a nice article about him on this link.

The building with all of the Hall of Fame exhibits is called Durham Hall. Flat Logan and I went there one day when there weren’t so many people there so we could take some photos. You can read more about it on this site:

Audrey’s favorite room in the museum if the Hall of Heroes where the Medal of Honor recipients and the Distinguished Service Cross recipients have their photos and citations. There is also an exhibit of a soldiers boots, a rifle with a helmet on it (It happens to be the real Randy’s helmet) and a Silver star Medal a
nd a Purple Heart Medal.
Flat Logan and I liked the soldiers barrack room exhibit. It had a desk, an army cot, foot locker and
uniforms from long ago. We even got to lay on the cot. It was sure neat for a bedroom.

We also liked the commanders room. There were mannequins wearing real soldiers uniforms form past w
ars. We sat on one soldiers lap to get our photo taken.

There were so many interesting things to see. Audrey actually got to meet some of the people who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame and have their photos in the museum. I learned I liked it a lot and I think Flat Logan did too. He was kind of scared by some of the guns and war photos. I will be telling you more about what we saw in another article.
