The Granite State Comicon last Sunday was a blast, and I'm currently in the last full week of school. It's 66 degrees with clear blue skies outside, and I'm getting this article posted ahead of time (first time in a while for that). So life is good. Tomorrow is Gynn's birthday. We'll be celebrating with ice cream at Four Seas.
The weekend is Memorial Day, and it looks like I will be spending at least some of it at Mom's place doing some housework for her.
On the creative front, we have done some rearranging of our release schedule in terms of our minicomic projects. The first comic we ever published for Zephyr & Reginald: Minions for Hire was a photocopied minicomic called "The Perils of Alternative Energy Girl". The print quality on is has deteriorated over time, and the layout is crude compared to our later efforts. We did another minicomic, "Out of the Closet", but that one has been around for a while too, and we occasionally find ourselves having to excessively explain that it is an all-ages (well, PG-rated) book.
So we had a script on the back burner for a promotional minicomic that would capture the flavor and humor style of Minions for Hire and that we would be comfortable using as a promotional giveaway. We also have a new Tunnels & Trolls minicomic scheduled, and the original idea was to do that one first, in time for Origins at the beginning of July. It now looks like we will be back-burnering the Tunnels & Trolls minicomic and trying to get the Minions one out by July.
This evening, we will be heading over to Borders in Hyannis MA for writing/drawing. I'll be doing some editing on the script for the new minicomic, and working on my next issue of Caravan. The deadline for publishing Caravan in the Phoenix APA is fast approaching, along with assorted other deadlines.
Not sure who else is joining us tonight. It's still a bit early to be hearing from them via email.
Last Week's Goals: Write a script for a Zephyr & Reginald: Minions for Hire "Science Safety Poster". Rewrite scene from the Knifeclaw Company script. Read and review some of the comics we brought back from SPACE.
Last Week's Results: Safety poster script got done, as did the rewrite of the Knifeclaw Company scene (which Gynn really liked). I read most of one of the longer books we brought back from SPACE, but I haven't read much else from that stack since last week, and I am still pretty far behind.
This Week's Goals: Finish reading the new issue of Phoenix and write my MCs. Edit the script for "Fighting With Girls" (the new Minions minicomic). Begin Caravan layout. Read and review five comics from SPACE or from Granite State Comicon.
Question of the week: Any plans to travel this summer?
We're going to Columbus OH for Origins at the beginning of July, and to Pi-Con, a small convention in West Springfield MA in August. I'm also planning a trip to the New York City and New Jersey areas at the end of the summer to visit friends down there and do some comic marketing.
