Hello, Friends and Colleagues.
My publisher has decided not to go with my cover design for Tremolo: cry of the loon. It's fine, though, because whenever I design a cover, it's always with the knowledge that it's just a "place holder" until the book actually comes out in print. Here's the cover I designed, using an old scanned and refurbished snapshot of my grandmother's cabin in Maine:

I think I was biased and loved this image because this is exactly where I spent my summers and there is the window of the bedroom I actually slept in... which of course, I assigned to the young Gus LeGarde in the book! Anyway, Gather member Lida Quillen, publisher extraordinaire of Twilight Times Books and the Paladin Timeless Imprint, wants to do something more mysterious - a foggy lakeshore photo, with perhaps a silhouette of three kids in a rowboat, and an image of a loon off to the side. Perfect, really, but now we have to help the cover artist find a good model to work with.
So, if you have any delicious photos you'd like to share of a Maine shoreline, especially with fog rising, please let me know! I especially love those with big granite boulders and white birches hanging overhead, with reflections in the water and/or a mysterious atmosphere.
Whoever provides the photo that inspires our artist will receive a free copy of Tremolo and the first two books in the LeGarde Mystery series, Double Forte' and Upstaged. After all, I want to compensate you for your talent and time!
If you'd like to read an excerpt from the book, or purchase the ebook, check out my website here or Twilight Times page here.
This should be fun! And the next challenge is going to be the cover design for The Green Marble, due out in the fall. This one will feature a mysterious cave with a pool of water in front of it, with a sparkling green marble off to the side. If you'd like a sneak preview of the new Moore Mystery series, stop over to my website dedicated to retired family doctor Sam Moore and his lovely wife Rachel, stricken with MS (like my dear wife, Dale), who faces her challenges with great humor and courage.
Thanks in advance to all who dig up photos we might use and go out and enjoy this glorious day!

Bob - absolutely! It just has to look like Maine! Foggy in Mass will do just fine!! Thanks so much!
Congratulations on your books.
I love the "feel" of your grandmother's cabin! Maybe you can use it in another book
Hi, Beryl! I'm glad you commented - I wanted to tell you how in love I am with your book and writing - I just started The Scent of God and I'm dying to get back to it. You are an immensely talented writer, with a story that transports me, instantly, to your past. I'm sorry the photos didn't go through in the LeGarde newsletter. I did a trial to myself and they looked great, but lots of folks didn't get them.
By the way, if anyone would like to be subscribed to the LeGarde newsletter (every month or so I issue an update on my books, reviews, lit news, etc.), just email me at aaron.lazar @ yahoo.com (without the spaces).
Hi, Sonia! I'm glad you like the feel of that photo - it spoke to me, too. You know what? I photoshopped my grandmother out of the doorway. She's my "Maddy" character, and was leaning on the porch in her bathing suit and cap, in a "glamour girl" pose! I just loved her so much, but she didn't fit in this story or cover!!!
